sunsets

As I sit here, the waves
touching
my feet,
a kiss
on the skin, then a retreat;
Looking
at the orange canvas
I recall
how my mother
always told me
not to click
sunsets,
whenever I showed
her
a sunset picture,
she would go on and on
about how
she always believed
and felt often
the negative energy
that sunsets represent;

The thought
leaves
me wondering
as I see
the sun
travelling towards the horizon
towards
it's own reflection,
first
dipping
its toe, only to confirm
the warmth
it spread,
then sliding down
completely,
still leaving
some light
for a world
immersed in orangish hues,
leaving hungry
eyes
behind,
sparkling
with longing and warmth;
leaving
a feeling
of abundance
in hearts, and still a fear
of the approaching dark
a feeling
of an indomitable force
a realization
of our days
being numbered,
the cup half full
or maybe half empty,
yet a gratitude
for life;

    Wow🙏. It’s like giving words to unexplainable feelings I and most of us get when we watch sunset…

    The deep feeling of fear I felt while watching sunset on my last day on our college campus in 2015.. the sun slipping down to vast plantations of mango trees.. A feeling of fear that I am going to lose the comfort of this campus and… A feeling of fear to face the world from the next day…

    Like…A feeling that a child has while leaving his/her mother on first day of school… A feeling that a bride has while leaving to her in-laws…
